Strawberry Aperol Smash

Happy Weekend Everyone! Who’s ready for a Strawberry Aperol Smash??  Today we have a delicious, easy cocktail that takes minimal bar skills to make.  Perfect for when you feel like a having a pretty, fancy cocktail, but without the crazy effort.

This little summery delight is just 3 simple ingredients – Aperol, orange juice, and fresh strawberry. Aperol is only 11% ABU so it would be perfect for a little hair of the dog with brunch.  Or a weeknight when you still need to make it into work the next morning (no judgement, we’ve all been there).  Whatever the occasion, it’s a perfect fit.  Sweet but not cloyingly so, refreshing, and with just the right level of bitterness.

Nicole fell in love with Aperol in Italy, where it’s on nearly every drink menu.  It’s a perfect Apertif drink, but also a great addition to many different cocktails.  This drink is pretty fun to make, but not in a complicated way.  Seriously folks, it’s as simple as throwing a strawberry in a cocktail shaker, giving it a good muddle to get it all juicy, adding some ice, the aperol and orange juice, then shaking it up real good!  Strain into a pretty glass and start feeling fancy.
